Betty Butterfield on Unitarians
Filed Under humor, uu culture, uuism
Who is Betty Butterfield, and why is ze talking about Unitarians? I don’t know, but an accidental click on the Internet Archive Vlog link in my Bookmark Bar serendipitously led me to outright laughter. The featured video of the day was this three minute piece on how confused Betty was by the Unitarian church ze visited (and the Quaker one, too).
Betty Butterfield and Unitarians
p.s. The one on Methodists is pretty funny, too.

That’s really funny. I mean, really funny. And should probably be studied by welcoming committees everywhere.
I agree, Betty Butterfield on Unitarians is super funny! She does a whole series on different religious traditions. However, Chuck Kipp, the drag-queen/comedian who plays Betty, has also been criticized for also performing as “Shirley Q. Liquor.” Liquor is a stereotype of a Southern African American woman on welfare, and Kipp plays the part in blackface. I’ve never seen it, but that one sounds awful.
Sweet find.
