My Queendom for a Dunkin Donut
Yesterday afternoon, I abruptly got up from the computer and walked down the stairs. The LH was sitting on the couch, coding; his mother was in the dining room, highlighting a medical textbook. Without a clue as to what I was going to say, I announced: “I need some donuts.” And strangely enough, when I check UUpdates today I find all of these posts about donuts!!!! How did y’all know what was on my mind? Unfortunately, where I live (the Pacific NW of the USA), donut shops are becoming extinct. We have maybe ten shops, including independent ones. But we do have a Vegan Vietnamese restaurant. *sigh* Too bad that’s not what I’m craving.
Incidentally, the meme figured out exactly my favorite type of donut - glazed. I prefer Dunkin Donuts to Krispy Kreme, hands down. What I wouldn’t give for a cakey, glazed donut (or two) right now. I swear there’s a whiff of it coming from somewhere (my imagination?)!!!
You Are a Glazed Donut |
![]() Okay, you know that you’re plain - and you’re cool with that. You prefer not to let anything distract from your sweetness. Your appeal is understated yet universal. Everyone dig you. And in a pinch, you’ll probably get eaten. |

Hafidha, I’m assuming you know about Annie’s Donuts out on Sandy and Fremont, where they cross, and is it VooDoo or Vampire Donuts down in the Burnside area? Actually, CC turned me on to the second one. But I used to live around the corner from Annie’s. Yum!
You have VooDoo donuts! You can’t complain.
A big group of ministers and spouses made a midnight trek to VooDoo during GA and it was totally wicked.
Jess and MsK - I know about VooDoo (I got faux married there) but their donuts are TOO fancy! I don’t want peanut butter and chocolate. I just want a simple glazed. *sigh* Well there is a bakery about 30 mins away that makes decent ones so I’m going to try that later today.
At the Portland GA I spoke with a vegan couple whose children had never eaten a donut before they went to VooDoo Donuts. When the son bit into it, he exclaimed, “That’s the sweetest bagel I’ve ever had!”
Donut shops are hard to find here in the Southwest too. Christina and I keep talking about how we’re going to open the New England Emporium, featuring candlepin bowling and a Dunkies.
Charlie - teehee. Actually, I have to say the best donut I’ve eaten at Voodoo Donuts is their vegan (plain, slightly glazed). It was quite caky and - yes, sweet!
Huh. Your blog swapped my first for my last name.

Your Fix Is In:
A certain upscale, green-logo’d mackaccino chain will be closing its doors on Tuesday night, February 26, for a mass barista training exercise (stop inhaling the retail, kids?).
You can tell your friends most likely to explode into a caffeine-withdrawal freak-fit that Dunkin’ Donuts will be filling in with a 99¢ latte/cappuccino special from 1-10PM. And you know, chocolate-glaze donuts with pink sprinkles, 24-7.
