  • I’ve heard the questions the reporter poses - in some form or another, just change out some of the names if you want - my whole adult life (and longer). Father Phleger - who was dubbed a “black a** kisser” at one website I visited - has responses that I can only characterize as “real.”  I love how his last words apparently stun the reporter into quickly ending the conversation. I guess the reporter just didn’t want to go there.

Everything Father Phleger has said, I’ve heard black people say growing up. Everything. It’s still incredible to me that there are millions of people out there who aren’t even familiar - they don’t have to agree - with these views.

One of my favorite lines, “I’m not running for office, I’m running for Jesus.” I loved this because Fox News and other organizations like it would have us all believe that religious Christians are a homogenous group of people (who watch Fox News). Everyone else is godless, immoral, anti American, communist, fringe, and weak.

Watching Father Phleger here, he conjures up the image of the Jesus who doesn’t take no mess.

Thanks for posting this. I agree with everything Father Phleger said. I just finished watching the Bill Moyers interview with Rev. Wright and I’m not a fan of Wright. Now I’m interested in learning more about liberation theology.

Wow, what a brilliant, articulate guy. The reporter was completelty out of his depth.

Thank you so much for posting this! I am completely blown away by the energy of Father Phleger’s argument, the consistency of his stand against racism and bigotry (e.g. the reporter), and the power of his defense of Wright. Actually, I’ve never heard Wright say anything I disagreed with, and I’m sorry to see Obama distance himself from Wright. I guess he has to. But Wright is, in my opinion, absolutely correct in everything he says–IF YOU LISTEN TO THE WHOLE THING and not just the out-of-context soundbites. Father Phleger ROCKS. I’m going to go look up more about him now.

This is priceless. Father Phleger is so articulate, well spoken, knowledgeable, and he is outspoken enough not to let that reporter twist his words and smear his ideals.

You people are sick. Phleger is disgusting. No one is my family ever owned a slave. I lived in public housing when I was little. My parents married at 18 and 19 and are still together. They raised 3 children with HARD WORK and responsibility. They did not go to college.

I have been successful through hard work. i am a single mom and no one EVER gave me anything I did not work for.

Phleger feeds the victim mentality while the black “victims” slobber all over him. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme. How about get out there and work like the rest of us?
