The Baby

An announcement: I gave birth to a little girl, Inara Sandrine, at 12:01am on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. She was 9 lbs 3 oz, and 20 inches long - at 41 weeks and 1 day.
Hubby and I are spending most of our time at the neonatal intensive care unit with her, as she awaits surgery for coarctation of the aorta - after birth, the original diagnosis of the more serious HLHS was withdrawn. We are very happy for this, though of course anxious about the upcoming surgery.
I’m writing from my iphone so keeping this brief. Thanks for all the thoughts, advice, encouragement, resources, and prayers. We appreciated everything!
Here is a photo of our little sweetie pie. Her names mean “a ray of light sent from heaven” and “defender of humanity.”
